registering for a digital orientation date is required for first-time students! this is how you will get your class schedule for your first semester at cmu.
transfer students may self-register for classes on mavzone. if you are a transfer student from another college or university and you need help registering for classes, you can schedule a transfer student advising appointment to meet with one of our iris advisors via phone appointment.
your digital orientation is the day that the academic advisors will have your class schedule ready.
you will receive an email to the account you included on your application for admission. the message will include your schedule on an eform that you will submit to confirm your class schedule or to confirm that you would like to make changes. you must submit the eform with your response.
we invite you to sign up for virtual sessions on your digital orientation or another date that works for your schedule.
the $30 orientation charge is an all-encompassing one-time fee that covers the orientation onboarding process for incoming students. this fee will be applied to your fall bill with tuition, fees, etc.
sign up for the digital orientation virtual sessions below. students and their supporters are welcome to sign up for any session that works for your schedule – even if it does not coincide with the day of the student's digital orientation date.
the d2l (desire to learn) app is where you will access your coursework for online or hybrid classes at cmu. it is located on the applications page in mavzone. hybrid indicates that a component of your in-person course will be done online.
if you are getting emails about d2l, that means that you are registered for an online or hybrid class. you’ll need to do the introduction to d2l task in mavzone before the start of the semester. we recommend that you complete your requirements as soon as you can so that you are prepared for the first day of your classes.
on your digital orientation date, you will receive an email with your fall schedule on an eform. please submit your eform as soon as you can to confirm that you have received your schedule.
