the university is restricting travel for all faculty, staff and students to the immediate local areas of mesa, montrose, delta, garfield, pitkin, rio blanco, gunnison, ouray and eagle counties between the dates of august 17 and november 24. during this time, leaving the area is strongly discouraged. travel outside these designated local areas may put the campus community at risk. limited circumstances may exist where the university will approve essential travel that meets established covid protocols.
- if you come into contact with a known covid-positive individual or someone who is symptomatic with covid-like symptoms while traveling, you will need to monitor your health, quarantine when returning home and report in scout. you will need to stay in your place of residence for 14 days from the date of exposure.
- students: due to the nature of student travel, students who travel outside of the approved regions for any reason will be required to quarantine upon their return. students will need to retest approximately 48 hours (contingent upon travel destination) after their return to grand junction, and will be subject to pay $75 for the retesting fee. students can coordinate scheduling a test by emailing email@example.com. students will continue to quarantine until they receive their negative test results. students should also fill out a student absence eform, so student services can verify student absences with each professor. this will not excuse a student absence, so students will still need to reach out to their professors.
- faculty/staff: due to the nature of faculty and staff travel, faculty and staff will not be required to quarantine upon their return, but will need to use extreme caution (social distancing, face cloth coverings, frequent hand washing, etc.) upon their return. faculty and staff will be required to retest approximately 48 hours (contingent upon travel destination) after their return to grand junction, and will be subject to pay $75 for the retesting fee. faculty and staff can coordinate scheduling a test by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
if you should have any questions about travel, please email email@example.com.
